Issues

As school board director, I will continue to uphold the vision and mission that has made Littleton Public Schools exceptional by:

  • Ensuring Littleton Public Schools continues to educate the ONE while maintaining high expectations and academic rigor thus ensuring Littleton Public Schools be the preferred district for families
  • Recruiting, retaining and supporting exceptional teachers, administrators, and staff
  • Being an informed, and fiscally responsible steward of funds allocated for education
  • Advocating for community and family involvement to create partners in education

Ensuring LPS continues to educate the ONE while maintaining academic rigor thus ensuring LPS be the preferred district for families.

As a lifelong learner and one who values education, I recognize we live in an ever changing world with complex and emotionally charged issues. I will work to keep children and families at the heart of decisions so future generations of learners have the same opportunity to succeed.

Educating the ONE means to meet each child where they are. Provide them creative spaces to learn and grow with role models and mentors who inspire. Give them feedback, not judgement with a chance to practice and succeed. Do this without compromising academic rigor and Littleton Public Schools is the obvious choice for families. I have taught for 28 years and I will never forget the advice Dr. Elaine Jackson told me as I taught my first class of pediatric nursing students. "Don't lower the bar, raise it and they will rise to meet it."

Recruiting, retaining and supporting exceptional teachers, administrators, and staff.

As an educator for over 25 years, I know successful students don’t happen by chance. They come via exceptional teachers, administrators and staff. I will support competitive pay, hiring practices and continued implementation of evidence based practices like Professional Learning Communities (PLC) to ensure LPS is known as the district that values educators.

Teachers are crucial to the learning process. Most of us don't have to quote current research to readily admit that without a good teacher or teachers, we wouldn't be where we are today.

Being an informed, and fiscally responsible steward of funds allocated for education.

In addition to being a good steward of the funds allocated for education, I will assure Littleton Public Schools continues to operate at the highest standard of education. I will be fiscally responsible with Littleton Public Schools Budget, while advocating at the state capitol with our legislators to make sure education has the proper amount of funding and is a priority. This ensures we meet the educational needs for our students but we do so with master teachers at the helm in every classroom.

Advocating for community and family involvement to create partners in education.

The relationship Littleton Public Schools has with families is crucial. I will foster it with effective listening and communication. The relationship however, extends beyond families with school-aged children. The relationship must include all citizens in our boundaries as well as businesses and the chamber of commerce community members. I recognize that collaboration with the community has been a source of our success in the past and is essential for the future. The Explorative Pathways for Innovative Careers Campus (EPIC) is an excellent example of what can happen when we partner with the community. These initiatives and others will thrive with community involvement. Everyone wins, the students, the district and the community. I will advocate for relationships that deepen the roots of Littleton Public Schools within our community.
